Cricket, cleaning & risks.....

Well, India lost the match against Pakistan last night. What a bummer!
Now many people have been talking about these matches being already fixed. If that is the case, I don’t understand what the point of even playing this game is. Cricket (assuming it’s happing only in this game) should be altogether banned. These people have spoilt the real spirit of game. Since the day when I first read (on either Govind’s or Manpreet’s) blog, that these matches have been fixed. I haven’t felt like watching this series anymore. I remember those good old days, when watching cricket matches was something everyone enjoyed doing. I am sure it still is fun, but something somewhere is always missing. We always have the doubts in our mind whether these matches are fixed or not!

Oh well, I was off today and the whole day went in house cleaning. Did I tell you that I love cleaning? Everytime I am done with deep cleaning of the house, I always get that inner happiness – it’s hard to put it in words…I guess sometimes it's weird thing that make a human soul happy – but that’s life and you have to accept every small thing that makes you happy!!!

Ok, now that I am done talking about our favorite sport and done with my cleaning talks, let’s get serious! No, no…I am not gonno recite you the story of some serious Hindi movie (or actually a serious Hindi serial…huh!). Today I was reading this article on taking risks in life and I thought if I was a risk taker or not? I am not sure what the answer is. I do take risks in my professional life – I think that is the fun of working -you need to take risks to enjoy what you are doing. But when it comes to my personal life, or some other things for that matter, I like to play it safe. I love the saying, “Unless you walk out into the unknown, the odds of making a profound difference in your life are pretty low”…but I am not sure if I implement it on me all the times. Some things are too precious to be taken risk with. Don’t you agree with me that sometimes it gets too risky to take a risk??

Cricket has been a disappointing game for Indians for a while now... they play so great at times and then tumble doing when the least odds are expected... it is a bummer for anyone who expects these people to be more team oriented and sportsmen rather than playing for themself - thinking about how much MONEY they could make and do the best...

get rid of Ganguly first of all - it's hard to remeber even a single decent performance of that guy except when playing with bangladesh, Zinbabwe or Holland - not to mention, he does not do well against them either.
Sachin seems to be too tired of the game - It'll be harsh for me to say to get rid of one of my favorite - but let him take a decent break at least.
Sehwag and Dravid are the pillars at the moment, holding some pride and bowling is more or less screwed up except some exceptions, we seldom see.

Cleaning - I love things clean around me, but I am not the one doing it most of the times :) - not my cup of tea... i would prefer (love) to be a workoholic and make a difference to my OpenSource community, if I could or make the Internet Highway more secure for the generations to come - alas i don't spend enough time on that stuff anymore.... I might be drifting away but will get onto the next topic of taking risks...

If one can't take risk... will not succeed... for some people life comes a lot easier and everything keeps falling in place - not most of us - so unless I can dare and take risks, I don't see success coming my way - it's the tough road and one might fail or topple a few times, but as it is said that the road to success is uphill.... so I keep going

India lost again. So may be there was no fixing. But their performance creates lots of doubts and in this series it was disappointing.

And taking risks at personal front is tricky I feel, I prefer to play safe.

come on, you indians need to change your damn minds who think there is always match fixing after you loose...

learn to cope up with that and you'll find that useful... good luck

Mohan Bhargav sahib...well said. I agree with you on everything, but as far as taking risks is concerned, I don’t agree that if you can't take risks, you cannot succeed. Many successful people have succeeded without taking any risks. Success is more dependent on luck & hard work than taking risks in life. Taking risks only makes life more adventurous and diverts you from the monotonous routine.
Govind, yeah...India lost again...and lost the game pretty badly. Well, the highlight of the match was the chief guest anyways!
I don't like taking risks at personal front either...
Deepak..yeah, sometime you wish that watching TV was not part of your daily routine...faaltu mein bp badaata hai at times.
So you don't like taking risks either, huh?

even i am late this time in commenting manpreete..so no tension:)

mera bechara neeraj toh bahut upset tha over the india/pak match..1000 rupees uske gaye.. becuz of his bet with his TL..

i really don't know if they are fixed or not..but after that big fiasco a couple of yrs back..u would think that they would have learned their lesson..

u love cleaning????? i think u are the only person that i know that loves cleaning!! :) i have to be in the mood to clean..i love to organize..but actually clean..aargh...mere ghar par bhi aati hai kya?? :)

i take risks as well mannat...i think i am the opposite where i take more risks in my personal life than professional....i think sometimes if you want something to happen..or u want to do something..u have to take a risk....i tend to second guess myself a lot..whether i made the right decision..and if then i didn't take the risk..what would have happened if i would have....so now i just throw everything aside..listen to my heart and remember the nike commericial: just do it. :)

Manpreet...yes you are late again. Sudhar jao abh tou tum. Try shooting for the first one to comment on my next post:)
Yes, India's losing the series proved a lot.
Oh, so I reminded you of cleaning?? Good. I think my name is becoming synonym with the word 'cleaning'....chalo...kahin tou naam hua humaara:)
Poonam...Manpreet ki sangat ka asar ho raha lagta hai tujhe.
Oh, Neeraj lost the bet...too bad. Tabhi tou kehte hain ke sharten nahi lagaani chaahiye. Oh well, better luck next time;)
Yes, I love cleaning. I know its pretty unusual, but that's how I am. I think this in the only good trait I have...:):):) As far as being organized is concerned, I am not organized at all. These days I am trying to learn the art of staying organized...so maybe in a few months, I'll learn the trick.
I agree with what you say. Maybe I have taken some risks in life as well. When it comes to taking decisions, I have to consult tonnes of people before I decide on my own. So that's why I guess I don't even take risks.
Manpreet, yes I am here. Just a bit bz and am trying to catch up on many things at the same time!
