From bad to worse....

The whole world is full of misery...and natural calamities like last year's Tsunami, this year's floods in Mumbai, and the most recent horriying devastation by hurricane Katrina just leaves you wondering, "what is the purpose behind all this". So many things could be avoided, if people would be doing their jobs correctly. I have been following the coverage on Katrina so closely, that I just keep thinking - what all could have been avoided? It's so sad...it's so touching. Every morning when I wake up, the first thing I do is, turn on the tv, just to hear more bad news.
Well, obviously when Katrina first hit the city of New Orleans, it wasn't as bad as it was predicted. The residents of the city, were happy that the prayers of so many people got answered. No one knew what they would be waking up to the next morning, when the rains had stopped, and the winds were calming down. Their worst fears came true. The levee protecting the whole city broke, flooding 80% of the city...some areas flooded with over 20 feet water. Rescue efforts began...The thing that touched me the most was when one of the rescue teams said that they simply have to ignore the bodies floating, to save the people who are still surviving. The bodies are being put in houses, and the houses are being marked in black, so that later they could come back there to collect the bodies.
New Orleans is all gone...and it would take yrs and yrs to get all that back. I could imagine how people who have spent their lives in that city must be feeling. They won't be able to go back to see if their house is still intact or not....for atleast couple of months.
